An important focus of SHRA’s activity is lobbying and advocacy, to ensure the introduction, recognition, extension, improvement of access and quality of palliative care and care for the third age at the local, national and regional level.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and organizations of others, operating in the field of palliative care, SHRA has contributed to the design of a series of important documents for the integration and development of the palliative service in the public health care system
Also SHRA, BELhospice Serbia, and Civic Alliance Montenegro have created a regional network in 2019 with the aim of working on solving common challenges in palliative care through experience sharing, advocacy for policy changes and networking. The network has undertaken an advocacy initiative at the regional level, to increase the capacity of NGOs to play an important role in the implementation of palliative care and the protection of patients’ rights, as a group vulnerable – patients with life-threatening diseases and their families in Serbia, Albania and Montenegro.
In recent years, the Ryder Albania association has also undertaken an advocacy campaign together with the elderly and pensioners’ associations, in front of the local government to prioritize the service in the apartment for the elderly at the Municipality of Tirana.
